Hale remembers feeling alone and misunderstood since she was young. She turned to alcohol to escape, but it made things worse.

She said quitting alcohol was the scariest but best decision she made. It changed her life for the better.

Hale chose to be sober on January 2, 2022, when things got too hard.

Her recovery was tough, with many relapses and dark moments.

“It took many years, many relapses, and many dark moments to find my way,” she said. She had to figure out why she drank.

The star of Extra Ordinary credits her fame on Pretty Little Liars for helping her fight addiction.

Hale believes her career and creative outlet helped her stay sober. “Without my career, I don't know if I would've made it,” she said.

She also credits her love for acting as her guiding light. It gave her purpose and still does.

Now, three years sober, Hale feels great. She wouldn't trade it for anything, even when things get tough.

It's worth noting that Hale will receive the Humanitarian Award. It's for her dedication to fighting addiction.
